Boatswain For anthropologists Juan Carlos Rosario and Guillermo Sierra, Garcés Brothers Commercial Company has an important role in the emergence of the people. It had its origins in 1902 in the rural term Bijagual, and settled at the turn of food with a canteen for the sale of food. The inn rose to become Joint Store.
In late 1910 the owners of the shop decided to broaden the business to buy five acres of land, planted them at once for coffee and cocoa, the estate was given the name of "Charity."
In 191 2 the Company acquired 40 Garcés mules that served him so as to transport harvested. Bijagual thus became one of the main towns throughout the region of Jiguaní, thanks to the management and prosperity achieved by the Brothers Garcés. The Company Gar
CES 1916 bought a coffee hulling machine, installed it in Petty and generated significant revenue for their owners. In 1917, was devoted to the sale of building materials, so they installed a sawmill workshop, with a daily production of 6 thousand board feet. In the same year the Society was dissolved, as the brothers pooled their capital to Peter Morin, Manuel Carnero Morin and Aquilino Fernández, thus resulting in the Commercial House Garcés Morin, who have a strong push in the development of the settlement of Boatswain.
the primary investments focused on export d
and fruits, precious woods, food, coffee, large-scale and building materials. From the technical point of view we have a modern sawmill, an aqueduct, the hulling of coffee and a power plant for public service. is evident from what has been said here, the whole set of institutions that legitimize a sense of cultural identity were created by the Company Garcés at first and then the House Garcés Morin.
In fact the management of the business enterprise developed in the people who settled in place, the possibility of finding employment, housing and benefits of electricity and water supply, conquests that made Petty a village in future.
The fact that the brothers were Garcés and English Morin has a special symbolism, then joined the economic entities created by them, he joined the cultural, among which the conclusion of all 24 June San Juan, the creation of Boatswain Club in 1919, the Cuban Hispanic Casino in 1939 and the Lions and Rotary clubs in the 1920s. These
institutions would create a historical self-consciousness in the people, its management would be born the construction of first public schools, playgrounds, sculptures, spaces of sociability, charitable societies, cinema, theater Isabel, the Catholic Church, the restaurant on Jonhy and the network of shops and stores that were established on the Avenue Railway, first as the edge of the Central Highway, then, and the celebration of the carnival (it did coincide with the San Juan). With regard to this last point anthropologists cited: "In the establishment of Petty as a people, speaking Hispanic immigration quota: Galicia and the Canary Islands, the same as part of the ethnicity and socio-cultural adaptation, recreate part of the culture of their home, the new shared cultural space, acting the feast of St. John as a factor in strengthening this process. "
The criterion is based as follows: "Villagers and family Boatswain Juan Ríos Rodríguez, canary of birth are in agreement precursor of this celebration, to acquire in 1909 a farm of 20 acres of land for raising cattle."
Kingdom
the above argument noted that: 'Boatswain is given the specificity of the same geographical space described above has been the most significant of the procession of the Virgin of Charity (September 8), associated this with a promise made by the Rios family, first settled in the area. "
On June 24, 1909 born then a tradition that is held as part of the Catholic calendar of migrants from Spain, as a system of customs and traditions unchanged worthy to be preserved, respected and practiced by members of society, but becomes part of the intangible heritage of the offspring of the Rios family and neighbors.
La Fiesta de San Juan has thus become cultural marker continually created and recreated, to join the symbolic capital of the native of this land. In fact the date should be reconsidered by the authorities establishing of the municipal government that takes the February 5 as the foundation of Petty and instead adopt the June 24, 1909 by all the arguments raised in this article.
